Jason Mountario released his debut album ‘LOVE IS’ (03.03.23), together with Sri
Hanuraga and Kelvin Andreas. The three of them are a contemporary jazz trio group from
Jakarta, Indonesia. LOVE IS is a concept album, wading through seven original
compositions, in the realm of the theme of love, encompassing jazz-rock, contemporary
classical and free improvisation.
Initiating work with very basic things, Jason is well aware that the theme ‘LOVE IS’ is an
element recycled by millions of people, which could become shallow if it is processed
merely for a commercial basis. For him, love is more than just meanings and words, but is
packaged in the form of goods, events and imagination of time.
The views above led him to compose materials exclusively adapted to the expertise of Sri
and Kelvin, believing from the start of writing that they were the right choices to bring his
vision alive.
Seven compositions were born; LOVE IS, 8UY1N9, THE BIG WEB, M-SS-NG,
UNKNOWING UNKNOWN, EVENT HORIZON, dan FOREVER AND EVER. Each song has
its own unique story where listeners are free to interpret the meaning implied.
Complex material manages to be obscured gracefully, and vice versa, simple things grow
wild. All thanks to the balance of its strict written materials with fierce freedom of
improvisation. Not only as a venue for showing skills, but also for a shared mission to
uphold the entity of each composition.
Miracles were obtained, producing works full of dynamics and colors. Fiery uncontrollable,
yet gentle and elegant at the same time.
